Most of us wanted a flawless and even toned skin. We really hate those “pekas” (freckles or dark spots) that appears anywhere on our body especially on our face. Nowadays, this is one of the major cosmetic concerns for many people. Because of too much exposure to sunlight, genetics & hormonal imbalances, this brown tiny spots occurs on the skin. Chances of having freckles are greater if any of your family members also have them. This is also common to people with fair skin. Everyone wants to get rid or lighten their “Pekas” to have a flawless skin.

But did you know that there’s an effective and affordable way to get rid of them? This has no side effects, easy to use and will give you very good results.

Lemon Juice

Lemon Juice is an effective way of removing those dark spots due to its bleaching properties that over-the-counter product contains. The natural acidity from it acts as an organic bleaching agent which can slowly reduce dark spots on prolonged use. It curbs the overproduction of melanin (causes darkening of the skin) and helps in breaking down melanin pigmentation. Lemon also contains Vitamin C prove to bring down the production of melanin in the body. Being one of the 5 Alpha Hydroxy acids, citric acid is essential and effective for skin exfoliation.

However, if you will walk out in the sun immediately, studies suggest that one should not use lemon juice on the skin as this may cause the skin to burn!

Here are the different ways on how to use it:

Apply fresh lemon juice directly on the affected skin and gently massage the area. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do this twice a day.

Another option is to use a lemon scrub. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle one-half teaspoon of sugar on it. Gently scrub your skin with it for a few minutes and then wash your skin with water. Do this once or twice a week on a regular basis.

Using fresh Lemon and Parsley. For this you will be needing the following:

Fresh lemons



Fresh parsley

Spray bottle

Here’s How You Do It:

a) Cleanse the face using warm water and a gentle cleanser to remove all the dirt and makeup from the skin.

b) Rinse well with water.

c) Exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells by gently blotting the skin with a soft towel and a good quality moisturizer. You need to exfoliate on a regular basis to remove dead cellular debris.

d) Add 1 cup of freshly chopped parsley in a teapot with 2 cups of water. Boil for 15 minutes.

e) Strain the infusion of parsley and add a few drops of lemon juice to it.

f) Let the liquid cool and then apply it on the dark spots using a cotton ball.

g) Let it stay for around 30 minutes and then rinse with plain water.

h) Refrigerate the leftover parsley and lemon juice infusion and spray it daily on your face to lighten the brown or dark spots.

You may also combine 1tablespoon of honey with 5 drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice and apply on the affected areas. Make a paste of lemon juice and turmeric to lighten the dark spots. Apply lemon juice combined with cucumber juice onto the darkened spots for a cooling effect.

Hummus And Lemon Juice

a) Mash 1 cup of garbanzo beans with ½ a cup of tahini in a food processor and make a smooth paste.

b) Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of lemon juice to the paste and mix well.

c) Apply the mixture on the dark spots and let the mask stay for around 30 minutes or until it has dried completely.

d) Rinse off with lukewarm water.

e) For faster results, repeat daily.

You can make a mask using lemon juice and natural yogurt, apply it onto the darkened skin and leave it to soak in for 30 minutes. Rinse off with plenty of water and apply moisturizer.
